Let’s rank and review every 80s cartoon! EVER!

 Yes, I’ve come back to this blog. You know what that means. It means I got a large overwhelming idea that I want to try. Like with NES games, or Adult Swim shows. I’ll get like somewhere between 5 to 15 posts into it and forget about it or just hope everyone else forgets about it. Anyway I decided since you can easily find anything online these days (for the most part) that I will rank and review every 80s cartoon. Let’s see where they all land! And let’s see how many arguments I get into with Portnoyd over Hanna Barbera.

I will try to watch as many episodes of a show as possible because that’s the most fair way to do it, however some of these shows will be so utterly dogshit that I won’t be able to stomach more than three episodes, so that’s where I have to be before I can rank the show. Let’s get this show started with some shows I’ve seen every episode of recently! Shows will go in three categories, BAD, OKAY and GOOD STUFF!

Let’s start off with the first video game cartoon…..ever! A cartoon based off of Pac-Man. I had heard of this cartoon decades ago but only recently watched both seasons of it and well I enjoyed season one but did not really like season two. Season two added in new characters and clearly they were already running out of ideas involving Pac-Man, which I don’t really blame them for because it’s Pac-Man. the fact they were able to get any ideas out of it is wild. Season two gave us this “cool” dude who was like a 1950s greaser because that’s the last decade Hanna or Barbera ever gave a shit about. The other character was a egotistical Superhero kind of like Darkwing Duck except not well done in the slightest. Still I did enjoy the first season enough to rate this show an OKAY.

Yes, if you’ve talked to me on the internet you know my love of these silly little bears. It goes back to childhood and having watched the second movie more times than God has created snakes. Okay that was the worst attempt at comedy I’ve ever come up with. Please forget I ever said that and let’s move on. You see I think I like this show so much because it WAS on ALL the time. It was ALWAYS on because it counted as Canadian Content because it had Canadian voice actors and was animated in Canada (in fact every Care Bears related thing from the 1980s WAS animated and voice acted in Canada! I don’t know or care about the other eras). However I must admit that this cartoon does not hold up very well. For every episode that was still charming and fun to watch there was like three or four (why is it so fun to write numbers out as words?) that were complete dog shit. Like one episode was about safety hazards like fires and bleach. No one wanted to watch that! EVER! Still it has some really funny moments involving Beastly and Shrieky. Still the uneven amount of just trash episodes I just didn’t want to watch again makes it so I just have to give Care Bears an OKAY.

Now it’s time for yet another cartoon I watched ALL the fucking time as a child because it counted as Canadian Content (yes, several voice actors were Canadian like Chief Quimby! and a decent amount of episodes were animated by Nelvana!) and I loved it. I thought this show was really quite amusing and charming. It’s clearly the winner of the first three shows I’m going to talk about here. Most of the episodes are still a lot of fun to watch. Season two was a little wonky with that shithead Corporal Capeman being brought into the fray but they still had some fun episodes that did not involve him! Anyway, season two was animated in America and I didn’t get to see it all until I was a thirty eight year old man. A thirty eight year old man who still likes watching Inspector Gadget. I’ll tell you this shows biggest problem, it’s VERY repetitive. However your looking at a man who enjoys repetition quite a bit. I love the Friday the 13th movies and every single one of them is basically the same movie just Xeroxed to death. (Until like the last few when they just got weird with it) It didn’t really bother me rewatching the show, I mean if I had forced myself to watch like 12 episodes a day for some reason it might but I watched them at a lesuirely pace and then talked about them on my Youtube (another thing I like to go back to from time to time) and here’s another thing. This is the best thing related to Inspector Gadget, no I haven’t actually seen the 2015 reboot but I don’t want too. This is the only time it worked (okay the Christmas special was also good). Gadget Boy was awful, the Field Trip show where he talks about random places like London England was possibly the cheapest fucking thing DiC Cartoons ever did and they made some cheap fucking shit. The spinoff Gadget Boy show about History was also garbage. The movies were shit, Gadget and the Gadgetini’s was awful. Inspector Gadget’s Biggest Caper Ever is one of the worst fucking piles of shit ever made. Yeah, I know I watched all of these spinoffs as again, a middle aged man, but I know that my feelings on this stuff would have been “Hey time to play some Nintendo!” had I watched the spinoffs as a kid. So don’t bring back Inspector Gadget again. Please. The original gets the rating of GOOD STUFF.

So, how long before I get bored of this? I say about eight posts!
